Hello Fine Folks,
Negin here, from a short absence, with a full update. What was I doing in this absence? Gigs! Work! Labor! I’ve done some directin’, some joke writin’ and some standupin’. And, while I was busy busying myself, I managed to hand the movie over to the remarkable and unequalled entertainment company, B-Side.
As you may have guessed B-Side is a “distributor” – AKA the Holy Grail for independent filmmakers. Basically what happened is, Nerdcore Rising took a shine to B-Side, passed a note to them in class, and asked them to check if they A) Liked Nerdcore Rising, B) Like-Liked Nerdcore Rising, or C) thought Nerdcore Rising was totally gross and grody. They checked B – and they also drew a heart next to it. I first took that to mean that my movie had a date to Homecoming, and that secondly it was getting a real chance at being seen by all of North America!
The official release date is Sept. 15 and there will be screenings all over the country. That’s also why the website looks different. A bunch of terrific things are in the works and I’ll be chirping about them as the awesomeness roles out.
But first, there’s PAX happening THIS WEEKEND. The Penny Arcade Expo is a big event for us because it makes a significant appearance in the movie and because Tycho & Gabe flash their hilarity throughout (not to mention that PAX was the film’s West Coast premiere). This year, MC Frontalot will perform again and this time, we’ll also be unveiling the official B-Side Entertainment DVD of Nerdcore Rising. And, yes, there are even more DVD extras than you could possibly imagine. You therefore have no choice but to buy it (er, when its available).
Heinously, I can’t make it to PAX this year – I’m in London for some work stuff (which sounds glamorous but I have learned is actually not at all). For appropriate new DVD pimpage, the ultra-impressive J.R. Futrell will be going in my place. He hails from New York City (via Virginia) and while his first game was Duck Hunter, his heart (and competitive streak) remains with Gears of War 2. Gears of War 1 wasn’t enough, but 2 was just right.
So, look out for J.R. and when you see him, tell him I sent you and then administer a hearty handshake. When you see Frontalot, G Minor 7 (Gaby), Blak Lotus (Brandon) or the Categorical Imperative (Dan) you shouldn’t give them a handshake but instead a gentle elbow squeeze. They’re really into that.
I welcome any and all updates, tweets, blogs, and vlogs about what is sure to be an awesome PAX-ian weekend. And thank you, as ever, for helping me get the mooovie this far. Civilians will start seeing it but YOU – you’ve known about this shit forever! You were on the cutting of edge (or at least the negin-ing edge) when you discovered NR:TM and that’s why you’ll always be my favorite…
Love!

I’m confused: is this the same DVD as the first one?
well, the movie *is* the same but there are probably 200 times more dvd extras. AND its an official dvd, released by a distributor, as opposed to the unofficial dvd released direct by the filmmaker. different levels of coolness, you see.
Oh noes, now you forced me to upgrade! Loved the movie, BTW.
